After the horror of the melamine related 2007 Menu Pet Food Recall (and the never officially recognized 4000+ sacred pets who died) I did tons of research, made lots of phone calls and wrote letters. Look for named meats (not by products, corn, or fillers) as the first 2 or more ingredients. There are many good brands out there. Here are a few:
Orijen dog food is high protein and very high quality, as is Wellness reduced fat or original CORE
Wellness Toy Breed Line has super tiny kibble for ttothless or chew challenged small breed dogs
Wellness Simple Solution Turkey and Potato is great for allergy prone dogs
Solid Gold Mighty Mini has the smallest kibble ever, and is a high end choice.
Petcurean Now Fresh, Go!, Lotus, Solid Gold, Annamaet, and The Honest Kitchen are some other good choices I have had personal success with.
Missing Link: This product helps coat, reduces itching/allergies, tear stains and more.
It contains a good joint support supplement, as well.
